GO TO: THIRD DAY PICS N CLIPS

I was only supposed to see this concert once, in Myrtle Beach, SC. When that one cancelled, and the tickets for the Greenville, SC show went on sale with no Myrtle Beach replacement show in sight, I went ahead and got a pair of second row tickets for Greenville. What was 4.5 hours on the road to see what was destined to be a fantastic Christmas show. Jars of Clay, whom, while I'd not listened them much recently, did have their first 5 CDs on my CD rack. And had it not been for them - when I tried to find something other than Flood on a compilation CD and found that AND Third Day - I'd never have discovered Third Day. So a show with both of them definitely worked for me. :)

(Was a little disappointed when I found out after the fact that Jars had been quasi-demoted from co-headliners to opening act; there were a few other songs on their Christmas CD that probably didn't make it into the setlist because of it, PLUS the USB flash drives that were originally supposed to hold the live show from that night had other stuff on them instead. Good stuff, to be sure, but not quite the same as having a copy of the live show. :( )

The very next week, Fayetteville, NC (less than an hour and a half away) turned up on the schedule. What to do, what to do? Finally decided that I could either drive the 2.5 hours home from Concord, where I'd be crashing for the night after the Greenville show, or I could drive 2.5 hours east to Fayetteville instead, catch that show Sunday, then drive the short distance home to Raleigh after the show that night. Since I'd always wanted to do back to back Third Day shows, the second option won out.

The two Christmas shows would be the finale of a very busy month for me, since I'd already driven south multiple times, first to catch my first Panthers football game, then to see The Police concert in Charlotte, THEN to see Jeremy Camp's unplugged show in Greenville two days later. Put a LOT of miles on the ole Prius during November. :)

Here's the streaming flash video that I put together from the individual clips of both the Jars and 3D sets at Greenville. Handy for people who don't want to download the individual QT clips, which always tend to get a little large on occasion.

And here's the start of all the individual photos and clips I shot Saturday night. The thumbnail pics all link to larger versions of the same, and the video clips (which are labeled by name, file size and length) should either play back when you click on them, or by doing the ole Right Click/Save As to your hard drive.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
(I loved the candy cane striped lighting that they did during this song,
particularly in the last two photos.)
6.2mb, 24 sec

(L) Wonderful Christmastime - 10.6MB, 40 SEC
I think Paul McCartney would be happy with this arrangement. ;)

(R) LOVE CAME DOWN AT CHRISTMAS - 6.1MB, 23 SEC
I liked the animated video on the screen behind Dan. Very cool.

HIBERNATION DAY - 6.0MB 22 SEC

CHRISTMASTIME IS HERE - 6.9MB, 26 SEC
(I never miss the Christmas Peanuts special, and have the soundtrack CD,
so needless to say, I liked this one.)

O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM - 13.7MB, 52 SEC
(My absolutely favorite track on the Jars Christmas CD, that opening beat very similar to U2's "Exit". The first of two U2ish moments on their CD.)

WINTER SKIN - 11.6MB, 44 SEC
I couldn't help but think of "Shrek the Halls" which I'd just seen the night before this show, when Dan started talking about stepping outside to get away from all the busy busy family stuff going on inside the house. My very first thought was of Shrek hiding in the outhouse to get away from it all. LOL.

(L) PEACE IS HERE - 12.5MB, 47 SEC
(R) PEACE IS HERE 2 - 5.2MB, 20 SEC
And here's the second U2ish moment on the CD, this one is kind of like "Gloria, Part 2", it wouldn't be to hard to imagine early Bono singing this...

The exposure was WAY off on these two shots, but I'm still including them
'cause they're bad in an artsy sort of way, IMHO.

LITTLE DRUMMER BOY - 11.6MB, 44 SEC
Unfortunately, I didn't catch any of the nifty light show at the end of this song EITHER night, I was kind of mesmerized by the whole thing and didn't want to be stuck behind a viewfinder during any of it.

i HEARD THE BELLS ON CHRISTMAS DAY - 9.6MB, 36 SEC
This was a very cool way to end their set. I caught the first part of it both nights, but didn't record anything either time as they switched to O Come All Ye Faithful; again, I didn't want to spoil the mood by having a camera lens glued to my face the whole time. So I just snapped a couple of pics and hoped that someone ELSE might have caught clips of this.
